June is….National Cancer Survivor Month and National Men's Health Month.

It is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest hours of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. It is named after Juno, Roman Goddess of marriage, home and family; zodiac signs Gemini and Cancer; birthstones alexandrite/ moonstone/pearl; flowers are Rose and Honeysuckle.

Flag day  and Father's Day are observed in June.

May is …the second month of Spring; named after the Greek goddess Maia; zodiac signs are Taurus and Gemini; birthstone emerald which represents love and success. May colors are red, dark blue and blue; birth flowers Lily of the Valley and common hawthorn; full moon is called the Flower Moon. In any given year, no month ever begins or ends on the same day of the week as May does.

May has been designated National Military Appreciation Month. Indianapolis 500 car race is held each year during May and the Kentucky Derby, the most famous horse race, is held on the second Saturday of May. Memorial Day is celebrated the last Monday of the month - originally designated May 30.

May is Melanoma and Skin (ribbon color black), Brain (ribbon color grey) Cancer Awareness Month.
