What Women Can Do to Help Reduce Their Risk of Breast Cancer: 

(Pick up a brochure at your Discovery Shop for further information on cancer. facts for women)

·         Find early. Getting regular screening tests is the most reliable way.

·         Women ages 40-44: Start yearly breast cancer screening with a mammogram, if they wish to do so.

·         Women ages 45-54: Get a mammogram every year.

·         Women 55 and older: Can switch to a mammogram every 2 years, or continue yearly screening.

What Women Can Do to Help Reduce Their Risk of Cancer: (Pick up a brochure at your Discovery Shop for further information on cancer facts)

·         Stay away from tobacco.

·         Get to and stay at a healthy weight.

·         Follow a healthy eating pattern that includes plents of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and that limits or avoids red/ proce3ssed meats and highly processed foods.

·         Get moving with regular physical activity..

·         It's best not to drink alcohol. If you do drink, have no more than 1 drink per day.

·         Protect your skin.

·         Know yourself, your family history, and your risks.

·         Have regular check-ups and cancer screen tests.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

·         Thursday May 8 we are showcasing an artist during the West Seattle Junction Association Art Walk. Open 5-8pm. Come in and meet the artist.

·         We are open on Sunday May 11, Mother's Day, for those last-minute shoppers.

·         Friday May 16 we're open 5-9pm highlighting a local winery during the West Seattle Junction Association Wine Walk.
