Interesting Fact: From National Cancer Information Center
NCIC
provided support for Ukrainian cancer patients and caregivers who fled the war
in the middle of diagnosis and treatment. Via phone, email, and live chat, Cancer Information Specialists and Oncology
Nurses provided cancer info and resource support in Ukrainian, Polish,
Russian and English. Multilingual clinician volunteers (cancer doctors, nurses,
social workers, etc.) were assembled internationally and available 24/7 to
assist the Cancer Information Specialists. The emergency program was pulled
together, and training given within one week! The support channels were
discontinued when the need subsided. (ACS website: cancer.org/help line
